LAUNCHES THE FIRST  COURSE IN MALTA FOR SOMMELIERS

The study program is divided into three levels and allows the participants to enter the fascinating world of wine, dominated by good taste and refinement. In general it includes also meetings and evenings in selected restaurants, visits to Cellars, Study Tours in top ranking restaurants. These experiences are intertwined with culture, history, business opportunities and professional achievements. The courses are held by experienced professional Italian Sommeliers licenced by the Italian Sommelier Association.

The 1st Level explores topics covering viticulture, winemaking, tasting technique and service, which are the basics for a professional Sommelier, starting from the correct temperature of wine service to the organization and management of the wine cellar.

The 2nd Level explores Italian and foreign wine production with particular attention to the strong link with the territory. At this level the technique of wine tasting is further perfected, a crucial skill to be able to appreciate every sensory nuance and, in particular, to make an informed judgment on its quality.

The 3rd Level addresses the technical tasting of food and, above all, the pairing of food and wine, through the use of graphic cards, and with practical tests of food tasting with wines of different types. On completion of the three Levels there is a qualifying examination, which leads to the award of the Diploma of AIS Sommelier.

At the end of Levels 1 & 2 the participant will sit for a self assessment test. At the end of Level 3 there will be a written and oral test. When this exam is passed the candidate will obtain the qualification of Sommelier.

L’AIS SBARCA A MALTA

L’Associazione Italiana Sommelier conquista nuovi territori nel Mediterraneo. Dopo Cina, Giappone, Regno Unito, Romania, Bulgaria, Polonia, Macedonia, Stati Uniti, Canada e Cuba, le attività dell’AIS giungono nell’arcipelago maltese.
