The course is ideal to brush up or learn basic communication skills while interacting with Italian speaking visitors at hotel receptions and booking offices, on the road, at restaurants, and travel agencies. These topics are presented through basic grammatical elements necessary for a simple conversation. A General overview of the Italian's cultural background is also offered.The course will have 10 sessions for a total of 20 hrs, six of which will be dedicated to practical sessions related to the various work situations building on the theoretical aspect of the course. (1 to 1 tuition is also available)

A Certificate of attendance following a test on conversation language competence, will be issued by the Società Dante Alighieri at the end of the course.

A practical course in translation

Former translator at the European ParliamentThe course consists of practical translation sessions from English and/or Italian into Maltese. Following an introductory session dealing with basic concepts of translation and job opportunities in the field, each session will deal with a particular type of text (e.g. official documents, newspaper articles, reviews, literary texts, etc) to be translated by the participants and discussed with the tutor. The last lesson will consist (optional) of a translation test marked according to the current EU translation evaluation criteria. Participants will be expected to use their own dictionaries. Participants will be awarded Attendance and/or Test Certification at end of course.
Course Fee: Lm40 Euro 93.00 includes tuition, test, handouts (translation documents)

Il corso ha lo scopo di indagare alcuni aspetti della lingua della giustizia in Italia. In particolare si parla del testo giuridico, ossia il testo delle leggi. Dopo una breve rassegna dei principali testi giuridici italiani si passa ad un’analisi che verte sui contrassegni di forma e sulle caratteristiche linguistiche di tali testi.
Il corso si terrà in 4 sessioni di 2 ore ciascuna.
Il corso, con certificato di partecipazione, è mirato a studenti che studiano la lingua italiana all’università ed a tutti coloro che s’interessano della lingua giuridica italiana. Lingua del corso è l'italiano.
Lingua e giustizia
The aim of this course is to analyse aspects of the language of justice in Italy focusing mainly on the text of law. Following a brief account of the major law texts the course will look closely at the form and language that characterise such a text.
The course is held in 4 sessions
All University students studying Italian and all those interested in the Italian legal language are invited to attend. The course will be held in Italian. Certificates will be distributed to participants.
